Bulls eye. The trek might need to be a sprint if we want the outcome to be benificial. Looking forward to your thoughts on how a new philosophy, politics and economy can be grown to fill the void we're both dreaming about.
This civilisation is a stereotypical "Cargo Cult".
I sailed up to Vanuatu 3 times from Aotearoa NZ, I read about the Island Nations culture before heading up to ensure I was culturally sensitive, my Māori friends taught me that was important decades ago.
In Vanuatu there's a cult called "John Frumm", it still exists today. Another Indigenous nation steamrolled by colonialism.
It reminds me that Religions of all kinds deflected the evolutionary process into a one-way cul de sac.
Yep, very fond of that analogy! We'll keep on marching around even though the cargo stops coming, which seems especially apt in our small islands of Aotearoa down here in the Pacific without an oil refinery. The key elements seem to be when ecologically based consciousness, which includes spirituality, becomes abstracted and or corrupted and spins off its philosophical, cultural and landscape based foundations. I'm obsessed with whether we can have our cake and eat it on that one - have the spirituality without the confusions between metaphor and observable reality and without the hierarchical abuse. One of my biggest fears is that we can't.
Yeah, I'm working on drawing my people together, both here and in the UK. Funnily enough our crew of woodland people emerged into a fairly tribal model, complete with our own neo-pagan "Druid" and shaman types. Good times. One of my main dudes is all set up in a wood in South Wales, where a lot of good things are happening. Definitely keen on that meet up! Will blip you on email. :-)

Yep, very keen on Geoff Lawton's charge mentality. (I did my permaculture design certificate with him). https://youtu.be/PhgkoCTmgW0

There is no more important time in history to be a member of a tribe, imho.
I'm glad you mentioned that we no longer have a refinery. I've written about that lunacy!
